It’s been so long since I’ve shared with you. Oh do I have so much to tell. Writing is my passion and ministering to the body of Christ is what I’ve been called to do. With that, not everyone is jumping for joy at the call. Most assuredly, they’re not turning flips in celebration to my response either.
It has ALWAYS BEEN A WAR! As a child I didn’t know anything about Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Boy, if someone would have taught that in Sunday School I might would have been better prepared and would have known about God’s armor before finding myself in a pit of snakes both literally and symbolically.
Snakes are just one of those creatures that I just can’t find rest with it. Growing up I dreamed about snakes for three years straight. They were always trying to get me, harm me, and scare me. One morning, I must have been in high school, I woke up to find two actual snakes curled up outside of my window in hedge bushes along our house. I wouldn’t say I jumped out of bed; but I leaped out of the bed waking everyone in our house with screams of terror. My father jumped out of his bed, ran out the door, grabbed a shovel and went to town on my behalf. After their deadly end, I had no more dreams until recently.
This Spring, we had a lovely friend to decide to rest and watch us as we went to and from our front door. My father attempted to sit down, and there underneath a chair a large serpent of some sort, type still undetermined, claimed his position. His life ended that day, but the terror and fear of such an enemy begin. It took me weeks to walk through our front door. The dreams begin again and the search for peace in a snake pit has been a mission for me and my family. Not only have we been trying to overcome such fear; but warfare has broken out in the spiritual ram in our house and God has given us discernment that enemies are lurking!
Have your enemies ever been exposed? Do you know frightening, sneaky, slithering serpents who smile in your face, claim they are for you, and use one hand to pat you on the back while driving the dagger deeper in your heart? How do you find peace when you work in a snake pit, when the house of God becomes a snake pit, and when snakes are in your family? I searched for these answers and this is what God promised me, ” Psalm 91: 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Because of this, I can rest knowing that even in the snake pit there is PEACE. I could go on and on sharing what God says about our enemies! We have victory! Our enemies, saints, have no power. They are only the bark but they cannot bite. In other words, they may attack, they may plot, they may even initiate battle, but they cannot conquer, they cannot have, and they cannot steal what God has ordained for you. Do not let their intimidating ways choke the life out of you! Only God gives and only God can take it away. He shall prepare a table before you in the presence of your enemies and make them your foot stool!
Counting it All Joy,
