As you share struggles with one another a convenient and popular response you probably have heard from someone is to, “Have Faith.” Has someone told you to have faith lately? By all means our belief in Christ Jesus is by faith. Faith is essential, without it it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). In my own experiences, faith has always and still is in my thoughts, soul, and prayer time. I believe God will do exactly what He says He will do. I believe He will come through when He gets ready. But, noone really talks about what to do “When Faith Hurts”. Having faith is not a walk in the ballpark. Having faith is not a sundae with the cherry on top. Sometimes, life can knock you to and fro. Setbacks and disppointments become a part of your daily walk and your head is barely above the water. Your faith hasn’t gone anywhere. Perhaps through it all, it’s stronger than ever; but the process of strength training and God stretching your faith to an even greater level hurts. Is Job in the house? May I talk to you this morning Job? How did you get pass the hurt, the pain, and the grief? You kept the faith; but even in your story, faith had to have hurt you. Then, I heard Job say, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15)
When faith hurts, and it will, trust that God is a God that shall not lie. Trust that He knows the plans that He has for you. (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust that He is for you. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Lastly, remember James 1.2-5 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Have a blessed and wonderful day!
Still Counting it All Joy,
