“There’s Danger in Looking Back” Part 1

Standard

Running with fear to a land unknown, Lot and his wife raced through the dark streets of Sodom and Gomorra. One command would change their destiny forever. God himself had sent a way of escape and freedom was just over the mountain top. The very cost of freedom was simple. It really summed up to obedience. Genesis 19: 15 states: When morning dawned, the angels urged Lot, saying, “Up, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”16But he hesitated. So the men seized his hand and the hand of his wife and the hands of his two daughters, for the compassion of the LORD was upon him; and they brought him out, and put him outside the city. Why would Lot hesitate to leave such darkness? Better yet, what kind of love is this? When we don’t want to leave dark cities in our own life, God loves us enough to take our hands and bring our entire family out. We often want to hold on to people, places, and things because they are familiar territories. We somehow feel like we’re in control when we rest in familiar situations. When doors are closed and you are forced out, remember that He is saying, “Escape for your life and DONOT look back”! Genesis 19:17
